Greeting in the Mighty Name of Jesus! This month's emphasis is on the benefits of walking in holiness. There are two profound concepts that believers must put in to practice. The practice of walking in holiness benefits: marital and personal relationships; relational levels on the job and specifically relationships in the body of Christ. The activation of love and righteousness is the power source that opens the floodgate of holiness. Many times in our traditions and religiosity, holiness is excluded or relegated to social expressions and not a God-kind of faith.
Therefore, believers cannot gain the full benefits of holiness without the proper attitude of love (agape) and righteousness (justice), which measures the depth, breath and length of God's holiness. This is demonstrated in our actions. Attitude is important. Example, I can't remain unforgiving to my spouse and expect to receive God's best. Regardless of what act of iniquity occurred, the offended must forgive in order to be free to grow. Here forgiveness is based on what God's Word says. Forgive and you shall be forgiven.
Remember, out of forgiveness comes love and righteousness. 1 John 4:17, "Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world". Psalms 33:4-5, "For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD".
We discover holiness through prayer, fasting, study, and living a life in fellowship with God. Through us seeking God continuously, His righteousness and love is made perfect in us. We become one with God taking on His characteristics ready to stand boldly on the Day of Judgment
It is through love and righteousness that believers are told to put on certain things to affirm the nature of God within us. Just as in the natural, we are told to wear clothes to cover certain parts of our bodies.
Believers are told, if you walk a certain way based on the principles of God, you will act a certain way in the natural. It is through God's grace and mercy that we are able to be the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21,for he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
In Colossians 3:12-16 believers are told to put on (wear) certain things: The following are the things, which becomes the Benefits based on our attitude, which drives a steadfast walk in holiness. They are: Tender Mercies, Balance Kindness, Insightful Humility, and
Heart of Compassion.
Right attitude of mercy produces tender mercies: Luke 1:78, Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us. When darkness attempts to encamp around you, God's word gives you light. God is able to be furious and equally tender. We are told to act the same way as God. Real tender mercy cannot reside in us while we are possessed with anger and guilt or being cunning and slick.
Right attitude of kindness produces balance kindness: Balance kindness is defined as generational kindness that reproduces long-term prosperity and favor. Mephibosheth's self esteem was in the dog palace because the house of Saul was destroyed. But because of the kindness of Jonathan to David, Jonathan's son was promoted to the King's palace to receive the generational kindness that produced long term favor and prosperity (1 Samuel9:1-13). We have this generational favor through the seed of Abraham in Jesus Christ. This same principle operates in the natural.
Right attitude of humility produces insightful humility: This type of humility elevates the believer to the next level based on Philippians 4:12, I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. Choose to allow God to position you through the roller coasters of life. Believers learn from each situation, because the promise is from God in his word, he would deliver us from every situation.
Right attitude of compassion produces a transformed heart of compassion: The heart of compassion from God is inclusive based on the believer's choice. The choice: we are adopted into the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. A mother may forget her child but God will not or cannot forget his children. Isaiah 49:15 "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you." This is powerful, real and comforting to know that we have the heart of compassion of our Father. There are no foster children nor runaways without a home in Jesus Christ.
In summary, the sum total of God is holiness. Holiness is the nature of God. The believer's destiny is wrap-up in the assigned purpose of God who allows each of us to triumph in Jesus Christ.
